$$400,000 for estate of Elk Grove Village man, 85 years old. He was admitted to defendant nursing home for with diagnoses of congestive heart failure and dementia. He had most recently been hospitalized for six weeks for exacerbation of the congestive heart failure. He had also suffered a stroke previously that had left him weak on one side. In the nursing home, he fell in the bathroom while being assisted by a CNA. As a result, he sustained a fractured neck for which he underwent surgery. He died several days later from fluid that developed in his lungs.
